Mission and Goals

The Office of Grants and Sponsored Projects encourages and supports faculty and staff in their pursuit of federal and state funds for research and institutional grants.

The mission of the Grants Office is to identify funding opportunities, facilitate the proposal development process and ensure that grants are managed according to government guidelines. Our goal is to demonstrate that research contributes to quality teaching and learning that will provide students with the multi-disciplinary, intercultural and ethical understanding to participate in the global marketplace.

The Grants Office is located in Becton Hall, Room 200, on the Metropolitan Campus. The mail code is T-BE2-02. To serve the faculty at the College at Florham, staff are on campus weekly and by appointment.  The Office of Grants and Sponsored Projects reports to the University Provost.

Pre-Award Services: How to Identify and Apply for a Grant

The Grants office assists with the proposal development process by:

  • helping faculty identify funding sources;
  • completing applicaton forms;
  • preparing budgets and financial information;
  • reviewing proposals;
  • obtaining internal approval of all proposals;
  • facilitating submission of proposals to IRB Committee; and
  • uploading proposals online for faculty.

The Grants Office submits all proposals to federal and state agencies on behalf of the University.

Post-Award Process: How to Manage Your Grant

To facilitate the post-award process, the Grants Office:

  • reviews and accepts awards on behalf of the university;
  • negotiates terms of contracts and agreements;
  • reviews grant expenditures;
  • monitors program implementation;
  • ensures compliance with a variety of federal and state regulations;
  • assists with the timely submission of required financial and technical reports;
  • serves as primary liaison between faculty and funding agencies; and
  • coordinates with the Institutional Review Board (IRB) for human subject research.
