To make it in today’s film and animation industries, students must learn more than the technical. We teach the art of filmmaking and animation – along with the how.
Our intimate department, which offers the only Film and Animation Degree program at FDU, features a low student to faculty ratio that fosters mentorship and allows students to begin shooting films and animating beginning in their freshman year. We believe in hands-on education, getting students immediately involved in production, working with the latest in digital film and computer animation technology while still learning from the standards in film production.
This major offers two distinct tracks of study:
Students have the opportunity to get real world experience by taking industry internships and are also given an overview of the historical and aesthetic with courses in film studies, history of animation, TV, illustration and art history as well as still photography. Students are encourage to take advantage of classes in our department’s Theater, Computer Graphics and Fine Arts offerings to give them a well rounded and grounded background in the visual and performing arts.
