School of Criminal Justice and Legal Studies

Engaging students in the study of criminology, law, and the criminal justice system

Welcome and thank you for visiting Fairleigh Dickinson University’s School of Criminal Justice. Our program represents a dynamic and challenging course of study that engages students in critically examining the fields of criminology, law, public policy, and the criminal justice system. It is designed to prepare students for wide ranging careers within America’s expansive criminal justice system, as well as to prepare students for graduate and law school.

Beyond placing a strong academic emphasis on acquiring the necessary knowledge and understanding of the causes, treatment, and prevention of crime, our faculty is committed to developing skills sought after by today’s professionals.  These include competency in the areas of effective communication, critical thinking, research, problem solving, decision making, ethical and principled behavior, and professional development.

Distinguishing our program from many others is a faculty who are accomplished academics, professionals, and leaders in their field – all of whom have real-life work experience within the criminal justice system.  This enables our faculty to skillfully integrate theory and academic constructs with the legal, procedural, and operational realities of the criminal justice system.

Because we subscribe to a holistic approach to learning, I invite you to explore this web site and take notice of many programs and activities that compliment and support our curriculum and our students – some of these include:

  • Internship Program
