Counselor/Leader in Training Camp (LIT)
Leadership training, fun activities and trips
for teens entering 8th & 9th grades.
Camp Discovery's Counselor/Leader in Training Camp offers our older campers opportunities to have fun at camp and also have an introduction to leadership skills and topics. Each day LIT’s will have a recreational activity, one or two workshops on leadership skills, and work beside college-age counselors with campers to gain real life leadership experience. They will also participate in the theater program in developing skits and public speaking skills. Each session the LIT group plans and implements a field day, party or project for the campers. This project allows LITs to try out leadership roles, plan and implement projects, and work together with peers, staff, and campers to accomplish their goals. In addition each session the LIT’s will join Camp Discovery on two trips and take one trip on their own.
This program is ideally suited for older campers who have an interest in working with children. Leadership, team building, and project management skills gained will assist LITs in school and in many career areas.
Workshop topics include:
- team building, organization tips & tricks, leadership qualities, group dynamics, and much more!
