Entrepreneurial Growth in a Challenging Economy

Ranjini Poddar
is the co-founder and president of Artech Information Systems L.L.C, a nearly $200 million IT staff augmentation and consulting services firm with locations throughout the United States, India and China.

Born in India, Ranjini came to the United States when she was eight years old and resided in California for most of her life. She obtained her B.S. in Information and Computer Science at UC Irvine. At just 23 years old, Ranjini was completing her J.D. at Yale Law School when she recognized a void in the IT consulting marketplace. At that time—1992—the idea of IT outsourcing was relatively new and unrefined. With this in mind, Ranjini and her husband founded Artech.

In 1999, after working in Corporate Finance and Mergers and Acquisitions for the eminent Wall Street law firm Sullivan & Cromwell, Ranjini joined Artech full-time. Under her leadership, Artech has exceeded revenue goals and achieved an astounding compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 67% from 2004 through 2007. In 2008, Artech received the distinction of being ranked the fifth largest MWBE IT temporary staffing firm in the US.
