President’s Update – August 4, 2005 – Appointment of Rich Bronson

Dear Colleagues,

I hope you are enjoying a healthy and happy summer. As the fall semester rapidly approaches, I am pleased to announce that Dr. Richard Bronson will begin serving as senior executive assistant to the president. His first day in this new role will be August 15.

Dr. Bronson has a long and distinguished record of service to Fairleigh Dickinson University. A highly regarded scholar and professor of mathematics and computer science, he is the recipient of the FDU Distinguished Faculty Award for Research and Scholarship and, in September, will receive the Distinguished Faculty Award for Service. He has made significant contributions in the administrative realm, serving as a department chair, acting dean and, most recently, as interim provost of the Metropolitan Campus. His many accomplishments include establishing the highly acclaimed SOS (Support our Students) program and leading the development of the Metropolitan Campus strategic plan, as well as helping to launch important academic programs and significant renovations and construction on campus.

In the newly created position of senior executive assistant to the president, Dr. Bronson will assist the prioritization of activities of the president’s office, assume responsibility for special projects, and work closely with senior officers of the University on university-wide planning and policy issues.

Please join me in congratulating Dr. Bronson and wishing him well in his new position.

Thank you,
Michael Adams
