Sometimes our graduates reach incredible heights and other times they REALLY reach incredible heights. On Saturday, scientist, entrepreneur and FDU alumnus Greg Olsen blasted into space aboard a Russian rocket in Kazakhstan headed to the International Space Station 240 miles above the earth. After the two-day journey to the space station, Olsen, who also is a member of our Board of Trustees, will spend eight days there conducting various experiments before returning home. His biggest goal, he says, is to inspire the next generation of scientists. The New Jersey resident plans on linking with high school students in New Jersey and New York while in outer space and he also will converse with friends and colleagues via a Web cast, which can be viewed.
Our FDU Web home page links to more information about Olsen’s trip and I also included below a link to the recent press release from Space Adventures, the company that helped make possible Olsen’s trip. He is only the third private space flight participant to visit the space station. Congratulations to Greg Olsen and best wishes for a successful and safe odyssey!
