FDU-Vancouver graduates largest class yet

On May 1, FDU-Vancouver welcomed its newest alumni at Commencement, adding 191 graduates from 25 countries to the community.

“FDU-Vancouver’s Fourth Commencement was the largest in the brief five-year history of the campus. The event was held in the Vancouver Playhouse and relatives, friends, diplomats and members of the city communities attended,” says FDU-Vancouver Campus Provost Cecil Abrahams of the May 1 ceremony. Registration

Registration for the Summer 2013 trimester begins on March 25, 2013. Students are asked to take note of the Summer 2013 calendar dates when making travel plans. A Registration Guide with a list of the courses that will be offered this Summer, as well as an Online Registration guide can be downloaded here. Students taking a Leave of Absence should take note of the facts on the Leave of Absence page.

Fairleigh Dickinson University expanding its campus in Vancouver

 Fairleigh Dickinson University is expanding its campus in British Columbia, which was opened five years ago with an eye toward attracting students from the Pacific Rim and other Asian countries. [more]

Career and Personal Counseling Services

FDU-Vancouver is pleased to announce that Nadia Serry will again be offering a series of career preparation workshops for students. Nadia has an extensive background in career counseling and students found her workshops very beneficial. These workshops provide students with excellent skills and information to help them prepare for their career and job search. Workshops are free for FDU students.

Additionally we are pleased to welcome Yoko Ito, who will be providing counseling services to students. Yoko is a Registered Clinical Counselor and a graduate of the Masters in Counselling Psychology program from the University of British Columbia, and has extensive experience working with international students at other BC colleges and universities. Yoko will be presenting a series of workshops throughout the term, and will be available on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00 – 6:30 for personal counseling meetings. She will also be providing training for a Peer Advisor program for students who would like to learn more about student support services. All sessions are free for FDU students.

Global Leaders Toastmasters Club Becomes Chartered Chapter of Toastmasters International

Congratulations to FDU's Global Leaders Toastmasters Club on becoming chartered chapter of Toastmasters International. The organization is an international public speaking group which develops its members' leadership and communication skills. Toastmasters was first introduced to FDU by Jobin Mojtabavi. Thereafter, under the guidance of the club's officers, Munnaf Prasla, Arlette Hernandez, Thales Santos, Maria Szotyori, Anny Shih, Armendra Kumar, and Alex Mykhailychenko, they collectively planned, recruited and chartered the FDU chapter. The club is a milestone in our students' desire and drive to develop their skills as highly effective professionals in their organizations and communities. With concerted effort, planned meetings, inter-group coachings and fun, the group aims to grow its members into leaders and oratory masters!

YVR - Reveal Business Simulation HALFFDU-Vancouver Students Earn 3rd Place in Reveal Business Simulation Competition

Congratulations to Thy Truong, Ruvimbo Mukorombindo, Tarun Khullar, and Ronaldo Martins who represented FDU-Vancouver at UBC’s Reveal Business Simulation Competition and finished in 3rd place out of 22 teams from across Canada.  This is a great accomplishment for the students and  for the Silberman College of Business.

Diplomatic Circle Series

The Diplomatic Circle Series is a series of presentations on the Educational, Economic or Political situation in various countries. The Series was inaugurated in January 2011 and on a monthly basis a Consul General of one of the countries where FDU-Vancouver students are from will be invited to speak on their country’s education and political situation.
