President’s Update — July 5, 2006 — Middle States Re-accreditation Earned

Dear Members of the University Community,

I am very proud to announce that Fairleigh Dickinson University successfully gained re-accreditation from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.

After reviewing the University’s comprehensive self-study and a report submitted by a peer-review team, the commission notified the University that our accreditation was approved for the maximum 10-year period. The commission further commended our institution for the progress achieved since our last review.

Accreditation by this regional body is a crucial measure of quality for our University. This is a significant illustration of our continuing commitment to enhancing the value of an FDU degree. I want to thank and congratulate all the members of the University community who contributed to this process.

As many of you know, the accreditation process included a comprehensive self-study report, undertaken over the last two years by more than 100 members of the University community, and a visit from a Middle States Peer Evaluation Team. The team, chaired by James T. Harris, president of Widener University, visited Fairleigh Dickinson University in the spring and reported that FDU met all 14 accreditation standards.

Congratulations again to all who contributed to this outstanding achievement!

Thank you,
Michael Adams
