President’s Update – July 12, 2007 – Campaign Gifts

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

I am very pleased to announce several exciting gifts that continue the wonderful momentum of FDU NOW, The Campaign for Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Bob Hallenbeck, vice chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees, has pledged a total of $100,000 to the campaign. Bob, the vice president for business development and strategic investments at BD, is a highly skilled and deeply passionate board member. His leadership and his vision have guided us well and his devotion to our mission is very inspiring.

Marshall Bartlett, professor of taxation and law, and Silberman College’s executive-in-residence in taxation at the College at Florham, has made a $100,000 gift to the Silberman College of Business. Marshall, who has been teaching at FDU since 1999, spent 21 years in a variety of tax positions at Exxon Mobil Corporation, including the final 11 years as general tax counsel of Exxon Company, International. Marshall has requested that his gifts support various Silberman College programs and initiatives, including those that enhance student services, further curricular development and promote faculty research.

The Peter Jay Sharp Foundation recently announced a $100,000 grant. These funds will be devoted to supporting FDU’s exceptional theater arts program at the College at Florham. More specifically, funds will be dedicated toward renovations to “The Barn,” student scholarships and tickets for high school students to attend University performances.

Gifts such as these from accomplished leaders in business and prestigious foundations and organizations are valuable and continuing votes of confidence. And gifts from community members like Bob and Marshall are especially appreciated because when internal members give, external benefactors gain confidence in our commitment to our mission.

Thank you Bob, Marshall and the Sharp Foundation. And thank you to our community members who have earned such recognition and support.

Michael Adams
