Requirements for the Bachelor of Arts Degree

Students majoring in literature must complete 18 credits of required courses and 21 credits in literature electives.

Required Courses (18 credits)

Choose one of the following poetry courses:

	ENGL3024	Studies in Poetry	3
	ENGL3055	Modern Poetry	3

Choose one of the following drama courses:

ENGL3021	Studies in Drama	3
ENGL3031	Shakespeare I	3
ENGL3032	Shakespeare II	3
ENGL3059	Modern Drama	3
ENGL3063	Contemporary Drama	3

Choose one (3 credits) of the following period courses:

ENGL3011	Medieval Literature	3
ENGL3013	The Renaissance World	3
ENGL3017	18th-century Literature	3

Choose one (3 credits) of the following courses:

ENGL3003	American Literature I	3
ENGL3004	American Literature II	3
ENGL3019	The Romantic Age	3
ENGL3020	The Victorian Age	3
ENGL3056	Modernism	3

Literature Electives (21 credits)

Choose any ENGL courses, no more than one of which can be at the 2000 level.

In addition to the 39 credits required for the major, students may elect to take up to 6 credits of internship with the permission of the department's director of internships.
