M.A. LD. - Certification as Teacher of Students with Disabilities

This 38-credit graduate program is offered for licensed teachers seeking to develop expertise in working with pupils with learning disabilities or other handicapping conditions. It is designed for individuals interested in teaching in inclusive classrooms, resources rooms, self-contained classrooms, or in private practice.

Teachers who successfully complete the master’s program will be eligible for certification as Teacher of Students with Disabilities, the license required by the state of New Jersey for teaching pupils with learning disabilities in inclusive classrooms such as resources centers, or self-contained classrooms.

Fairleigh Dickinson University's program is accredited by Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC). Program resources include the opportunity for placement at the University’s own on-site Center for Clinical Teaching; an affiliation with Hackensack University Medical Center; and practicum experience at St. Rose of Lima School in Newark, N.J.
