The Master of Arts (M.A.) in History is offered through the School of History, Political Science and International Studies, which incorporates a multidisciplinary approach integrating economics, history, international studies and political science into all its graduate programs.
The M.A. in History is designed for students who wish to pursue historical studies that intertwine the story of European-American heritage. Courses in this program emphasize the social, cultural, legal, political and economic institutions of both regions. Students in this multidisciplinary program also have access to appropriate political science offerings.
Applicants who have not completed all requirements for admission to the degree program may be permitted to enroll in classes for credit on a non-matriculated or non-degree basis.
Professional opportunities for students with a Master of Arts in History cover a broad spectrum. For example, students in the program have taken field trips to sites such as Hyde Park, the United Nations in session, the Holocaust Museum, and Ellis Island, where they have received briefings and special lectures on the history and tradition of the Island. Additionally, the program is enhanced by visiting instructors from the area who bring unique credentials and expertise to the classroom. All of the majors offered within the School of History, Political and International Studies are placed in an international context to reflect the global nature of our society. Fairleigh Dickinson has long been known for its strong global programs - which take full advantage of the surrounding international culture. Majors also are encouraged to study at the University's Wroxton Campus in England to gain additional insight into other cultures.STUDENTS
