Internships are beneficial for a number of reasons. First, by doing an internship you can explore an area that you think you would like pursue as a career. Second, it gives you a chance to build your resume with career related experiences and insight into an area, position or industry of career interest. Third, it allows you the opportunity to network with current professionals. And finally, you can get course credit while doing your internship!
Internships can be paid or volunteer. It is important to see that “internships” come in many names and forms. Which one you obtain is not as important as gaining the experience itself.
