Research Interests

Prof. Darden's research examines modern American politics from the Civil War through the 20th century, with particular attention to concepts of race and development in a comparative context, political reform movements, and the relationship of the state to society. He wrote the text for The American Soldier, a catalog book that accompanies a major photo exhibit touring the U.S.
