The Florham Institute for Lifelong Learning of FDU's College at Florham was established over 25 years ago as an "Educational Program for Older Persons" at the University's Madison, N.J. campus. Founder and FDU faculty member Joseph L. Tramutola sought to encourage and enrich the lives of senior citizens by offering opportunities for senior persons to enjoy cultural, educational and social activities. For a small fee, members may enroll in undergraduate or graduate courses on a space available basis, either for credit or noncredit. The talents and expertise of the members themselves are offered through Division of Life Experience courses. Day excursions, art classes, line dancing and aerobics, as well as a repertory company which entertains in area nursing homes and hospitals are popular with these seniors.
