Line

Learn skills that will be critical to your success in the 21st century's global economy.

Globe Hands FULL“Students must understand geography and have a sense of global awareness. They must know how to work appropriately and productively with others; be able to leverage the collective intelligence of groups when appropriate; and they need to able to bridge cultural differences and use differing perspectives to increase innovation and the quality of work."

- Partnership for 21st Century Skills

The lack of these skills is a growing concern for young people today. Most high school students do not learn about these topics in their current curriculum. We at the Rothman Institute are pushing for it to be included in national curricula so that students will be better prepared as they enter their academic and professional careers

The top ranked Rothman Institute of Entrepreneurial Studies at FDU’s Silberman College of Business has been teaching global entrepreneurship to high school students for many years as part of its popular Discover Business Teen Camp program held each summer and taught by our faculty. In addition, Fairleigh Dickinson is a leader in global education with a cutting edge curriculum that teaches all students about global issues and how to be world citizens.

Based on this experience, we have developed, tested and refined an online global understanding program designed to teach high school students these important skills to help them excel through high school, college and beyond.

Participating students who enroll in the certificate program receive a certificate after successfully completing the global geography game, viewing the miniature earth video, reading assigned materials, completing the various exercises, and passing a multiple-choice exam with two essay questions. This achievement can also be listed on your resume. Based on our experience, the estimated time to complete this intensive program is 6 to 8 hours.

Note: The content for these programs is available free of charge if the student does not want the University to assess their exercises, tests and essays, or issue a certificate. In our experience, the assessment process and the resulting certificate are important markers for student success.

Our goal is to educate young people so that they have the necessary skills to lead and be successful in the future. If that can be accomplished without faculty guidance or the goal of a certificate, the material is available at no cost.
