President’s Update – Presidential Visit – October 15, 2009

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

As was announced yesterday, U.S. President Barack Obama will visit the Rothman Center on the Metropolitan Campus Wednesday to speak during a campaign event for New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine.

While not an FDU-sponsored event, this remains an historic moment in our history and only the second time ever that a sitting U.S. president has visited the University. (In 1996, President Bill Clinton spoke at the Rothman Center. Lyndon Johnson and George H.W. Bush also came to FDU, but before they were elected to the nation’s highest post.)

The selection of FDU for this event illustrates our growing reputation and our rise to prominence among the nation’s elite institutions of higher learning. As you can imagine, Wednesday will not be a routine day on campus. We will notify you when more details are available.

Thank you,
Michael Adams
