Can I have someone else pick up my child?
Yes – Please fill out a carpool permission slip and hand it to your child’s counselor or the director. No child will be released to anyone without written permission.
How can I arrange a carpool?
Please leave a note with your name and phone number at the sign out area. Parents can contact you if they are interested.
What time do I need to drop off my child in the morning?
You can drop off children between 8:00 and 8:45. A counselor will be available until 9:15 to take late children to class. Please call if you will be later than 9:15.
What if I need to pick up a child early or drop them off late?
Please write information on the clipboard provided at sign-in. Early pickup - Report to the director’s office. We will send a counselor to get your child for you.
What time do I pick up my child?
Snack time is from 3:40 – 4:00. Children can be picked up between 4:00 and 5:50. There is a $25 late fee for every 15 minutes after 5:50. Please call if you know you are going to be late.

What should my child bring on field trips?
Wear camp t-shirt, sunscreen and sneakers. Bring a non-perishable brown bag lunch if lunch is not provided. Be prepared to carry the lunch during the day.
What is the supervision ratio on trips?
Younger groups have 1 adult per 3 or 4 children; older groups have 1 adult per 5 or 6 children.
Can children stay behind on field trip days?
No – if they don’t attend the trip they must stay home.
What if I am late for a field trip and the busses have left?
You can drive your children to the event and look for the group. Call the main office.
Can I chaperone a field trip?
Yes! Please call the main office to see if there is availability for the week you requested. 201-692-6500. Transportation is free – parents will need to pay for tickets with the main office. Sorry other children/siblings cannot attend. Chaperones must ride buses with children – we cannot have chaperones meet us at the event. Chaperones are responsible for their child and up to two other children.
Can my child sign up for another session during the season?
Usually we are filled. However you can check with the director to see if there is availability in the child’s group.
What is available for lunch?
Camp Discovery provides drinks at lunch and snack time – juice, water, milk and chocolate milk.
Campers bring their lunch each day. Lunches are refrigerated.
Pizza is available for purchase on Fridays. Money should be turned in by mid week. Put money in an envelope marked with child’s name, group, and number of slices.
Can I send snacks with my child?
Yes. Drinks and snacks are provided each afternoon. Snacks vary but include fruit, jello, pretzels, chips, and ice-cream.
What is the supervision ratio and group size?
Each class is 16-23 children. There is a certified teacher and two counselors with each group. Many times a fourth staff member will join groups over 20.
What happens if my child is sick?
They will be brought to the health care director who will call the parent. In case of emergency, a child will be brought to Morristown Memorial or Holy Name Hospital and the parent will be contacted.
What should my child bring to camp?
Bring a water bottle. Wear sunscreen and sneakers. Bring a rain slicker or umbrella on rainy days. A backpack is helpful to carry snacks, games, a water bottle, (bathing suit and towel - For Madison). Please label everything with child’s first and last name and group letter.
What is the child’s schedule?
The director will be sending home a schedule. They will have hands on activities in Science, Art, Theater, Explorer, World Discovery and Recreation. Madison campers will have swimming 3 – 4 days per week as well.
What do they do if it is raining?
Children use indoor gym (if available) or the children will have an indoor activity run by the recreation teacher.
Can my camper bring skateboards and videogames?
Skateboards are not permissible. Videogames/electronics are only allowed during extended care times.
