Salutations! The student editors of THE JOURNAL OF PSYCHOLOGY AND THE BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES (JPBS), take great pride in soliciting manuscripts especially from undergraduate and graduate students that recognize the value of publishing in JPBS as an indicator of academic preparation. The mission of JPBS is to acknowledge the student-mentor relationship leading to publication. NOTE: we are one of the few Journals that does not require a submission fee!

Entry deadline is Feb. 15th of every year for any future journal.

Publication Policy and Instructions

Policy: JPBS Submission Priority: February 15th. Submissions will still be accepted after this date, but may be considered for a later issue if the current issue is complete. Notification Accept/Reject: if you met the February deadline: June. JPBS issue #18, when complete, will be supplied to institutions & individuals for a fee of $15.00 per copy.

JPBS Submission Instructions: BE SURE TO INCLUDE YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS!

  1. All manuscripts MUST be formatted in strict accordance with rules of the American Psychological Association Publication Manual (4th or latest edition). Manuscripts not adhering to this criterion will be automatically rejected.
  2. Manuscripts must be submitted in hard copy (four complete copies) in clear near-Letter quality (DOT Matrix is unacceptable). All submission are reviewed blind. Author identity should be restricted to the cover letter and cover page of the manuscript. Please include your e-mail address if available. Please see the inside back cover for the remaining instructions
  3. For undergraduate submissions without a faculty co-author, the student MUST include a sponsoring statement from their faculty advisor to assure the quality of the work and that all APA ethical considerations have been followed. Please include a 75-100 word author profile.
  4. Each paper submission MUST include a self-addressed stamped envelope of proper size& with sufficient postage to return materials. Papers submitted without return materials will be discarded.
  5. Please send ONLY high quality original articles. Do not send articles which have been accepted for publication, or have been published, in whole or part, elsewhere.
  6. Given a manuscript is reviewed and requires revision, it is the sole responsibility to make the specified changes and resubmit it to JPBS within 1 month of return. Manuscript which take longer than 1 month to revise and arrive at our offices are subject to potential lengthy delay in publishing and may not be published until the following issue.
  7. Use of Humans as participants must be accompanied with written statement that all guidelines of the APA regarding informed consent and ethical treatment of participants has been followed. Studies involving deceit must justify such measures.
  8. Use of non-human subjects must be accompanied by a written statement that all subjects were maintained and treated according to the APA guidelines for Care and Use. In addition, a written statement from the institution's Internal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) must be submitted attesting to the review and approval of these studies. The phone number of the present IACUC chairperson must be included.

UPON ACCEPTANCE OF THE FINAL MANUSCRIPT

  1. Final manuscripts accepted for publications must be submitted in identical Printed format- (One final complete hard copy) and a CD ROM disk.
  2. JPBS requests the use of Microsoft Word (doc) files.
  3. One free copy of JPBS will be sent to the first author of the manuscript.
  4. Finally, transference of Copyright of ownership to JPBS must be completed before publication. Transfer of copyright documentation (sent with the acceptance letter) must be signed by the author (s) and returned to our offices.

JPBS is currently an annual periodical published by the Psychology Department of Fairleigh Dickinson University at Madison, New Jersey. The responsibility for review and contact is the responsibility of our undergraduate and graduate journal student officers coordinated by the current student editor.

JPBS offers undergraduate and graduate students as well as faculty an opportunity to publish in a recognized academic journal however, the student, and not the faculty mentor, must be the first author of any accepted submission. Manuscripts submitted wherein the Ph.D. is first author will be returned without review. JPBS is a student-run journal for students. Articles in ANY topical area of psychology are considered including, but not limited to:

Behavioral Neuroscience, Social, Sport, Industrial/Organizational, Clinical, Substance Abuse, Addictions, Personality, Learning, Psychopharmacology, Health, Medical, Cognitive, Psychotraumatology, Developmental, Psychology of Women/Men, Developmental, Experimental, Humanistic; Transpersonal and Peace Psychology.
