The Center For Excellence: Leadership, Governance & Philanthropy at Fairleigh Dickinson University was envisioned and established to be the leading education support and training center dedicated to ensuring effective leadership in the nonprofit community. The Center is designed as a resource for emerging or ascending leaders in executive management, board leadership, and executive philanthropy. Our programs are targeted to those who aspire to be future nonprofit leaders as well as those individuals who want to increase their skill sets and individuals seeking to increase their organization's performance and results. Our instructors are proven successful leaders with particular expertise who will also serve as mentors for the students. In addition to classroom instruction, our students will participate in field visits to select high performing organizations to learn from those currently recognized for excellence in their respective fields. Also, each Certificate Program will have a limited annual enrollment to allow the students to develop supportive work groups in the classroom, field visits and case studies culminating in an annual graduation ceremony.
Our unique focus will be supporting emerging and
current leaders who wish to be high performance leaders in executive management, board leadership, and executive philanthropy, as well as those seeking to transition to the nonprofit sector.

“I have come away from every session with a “nugget” of understanding that I will take with me as I move up the leadership ladder..... Each presenter has allowed us to see a unique and candid perspective of what Executive Leadership is from inside the corner office.”
- Anthony Gebbia, Principal/Assistant Director for Montgomery Academy
"I was drawn to FDU's Nonprofit Executive Leadership program because of the extremely relevant topics that it was going to cover and quality of the instructors. Little did I realize the networking opportunities it would provide and the doors that it would open."
- Jeanne M. Patrican, Consultant
